In Chengdu

Hello all
We finally made it to Chengdu.  After over 20 hrs in a plane plus layovers, we are exhausted.
But so happy to be here.
Our facilitator, Emily, picked us up at the airport with Philip, the driver.  They are very kind folks who helped get us settled into the  hotel, which is in the center of the city of Chengdu.  This city has 12 million people in a very small space.  We learned, too, that this province of Sichuan has 87 million people in it.  There were only 100 adoptions last year out of this entire province, and 50 of them were from Chengdu.

So...we get picked up tomorrow morning at 10 am and can expect about a 30 minute drive to the orphange.  Obviously we are super excited and just finished getting all ready for morning:

Diaper bag - Check
Goodies for Braden - Check
Donations for the orphange kids - toys, outfits, crafts - Check
Gifts for the caretakers, directors - chocolate, jelly bellies and American made cosmetics - Check
Camera charged and ready to go - Check
Good night sleep so we are good to go - soon to be had

We are happy that we get the opportunity to Skype with the girls, as that makes the distance from them easier to bear.  Man, do we miss them!
ready at the hotel

on the hotel door, so we can all be together

So I am off to do that now, then to bed since my blinks are getting way longer.
Thanks for the good wishes!  More from "Family Day"
